| Trying to find someone on the USFA lists Guys, I'm chasing up an old friend who fenced at my club but has returned to the states. I thought I would look at his ranking and see how he was getting along however, the USFA rankings only list the top 50. Are there seperate divisional listings (or something) for those not in the top 50? |

As for posting rankings, you have to remember that other than those listed on the USFA site, there are no other fencers with "National Points". Our system is a little different from yours, as unless you are on the points list, there are only five ratings, E-A, and many who are unclassified. It is a VERY imprecise ratings system in which what rating you have depends a lot on your opportunities rather than how good you are.

I think I may know who you are checking up on....I should rephrase: I almost certainly know the person you are checking up on, but I may even know which one it is already. is he from Tufts University????
either way, Boston is New England Division.

I AM on a University team after all. As for how he is doing, he earned his D, I believe, earlier this year. At the last competition, he seeded 3rd out of pools, but unfortunately I didn't do as well as expected in pools and he hit me in the round of sixteen and got knocked out.
well, it IS a small world, isn't it?

| It IS a small [Fencing ?] world! Guy's tell Keegan that the guys at RCP are asking after him.
I'm surprised he hasn't got a higher rating than a D - he's better than that (if I understand the rating system that is). |

Quote: | I'm surprised he hasn't got a higher rating than a D - he's better than that (if I understand the rating system that is). | I don't know.... Though it IS possible that he could get his C, I'd say D is about right. I have my D, as does DJ Apostrophe. As I said, there is huge overlap due to only having five ratings. Thus, a weak C is just a strong D who had a unique opportunity in one competition.
Also, you should remember that Keegan is in one of the strong divisions. Though that means more ratings given out, it also means more competition for those ratings.
