I'm not so sure Obama calling people out and the infamous Nixon list can be readily compared. Nixon was paranoid ('course, when you set up a burglary and then cover it up, that's expected), and some people on his list were probably there because they looked cross-eyed at him years earlier...I mean, Paul Newman?? Contrast that with Beck calling Obama a racist with a deep seated hatred of whites -- happily ignoring the fact that Obama's mother was white, as were the grandparents to raised him -- or Limbaugh criticizing him heavily for how he takes a deep breath (a secret govt. plot to steal our air)...I figure that if, and i mean IF, Obama has a list of people to keep an eye on, it's far more justified than the one Tricky Dick came up with.
What's more important is not a list itself...it's what's done with it. It's one thing to be able to track people who give trouble politically so you can form an effective counter-strategy....quite another to go McCarthy on that same person because you THINK they might be trouble.
