So i was fencing a bout of electric sabre last night, and we discovered that when the person i was fencing's lame hit mine, it set off his light for his point, why would that be?

Are you sure there wasn't a short between the weapon and his lame`?

Did you switch sides of the box to see if it wasn't a shorted bodycord or floorcord?

Isolating where the problem is is the first thing you should do.

The real question though is how in god's name are you getting so close that your lame's are touching?!

Well.. It wasn't during an actual bout, my friend just had the bright idea to see if we body slammed eachother if the lames would make the scoring system to off. Sure enough it did.

Still shouldn't be happening unless there's an A-to-C or (A-to-B) short somewhere in there (possibly between an uninsulated portion if the guard and the glove).

    That was my first guess.
