NEEDED 14 Epee geezers in SF This Sunday

Looks like the VET Epee this Sunday at GGFC in S.F. is just 14 fencers shy of an A3 or maybe even an A4. Still need a few "A"s to make it an A4 but surely there are 14 NO! 13 (one more just signed up) more VETs in the BayCup area who can wield an epee. Close of registration is 1:00PM

Be careful what you wish for.
If they show up you will have to enjoy 3 flights of pools instead of 2.

For a long time Bay Cup was targeting having 25-35 people events
to have 4-5 pools, which local clubs can run in 1 flight.

As soon as the number in a particular event grows events were split/restructured to get closer to that number.

Time to split Vet epee into A-C and C and under

Ah, yeah well I guess success has its problems. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues. And if it does then push these events to clubs that can get larger spaces.

OK. I'll do epee if you bump our Vet foil to A2 in the morning.
    We are close.

I am assuming there are probably 5 or so strips available in their venue

GGFC has 10 strips on the ground floor and 3 or so more on the second floor. But that's assuming no referees and no additional fencers. With 50+ fencers, there's a need for space for the bags, for the 30+ other fencers who are not currently fencing and possible spectators and referees and other people.

In practice, they have 5 strips when accommodating the referee and non-competing fencers on the ground floor and possibly 2 on the upper floor.

Well, I'll be there for the foil event so if someone can give me a crash course on epee (and lend me some equipment), I'm game.

I bet the gold medal bout for epee does not finish until after 10:30PM. Any takers?

I'd do it but I don't have any left handed foils and I'm trying to get back to using the right for epee.

But AskFred is showing 52. Way the luck works there will be just shy of 64 fencers which will give our hosts as much trouble as 64 but without the advantages.

Yes, because what we clearly don't have enough of around here are A-rated epee fencers. I was just thinking that the other day.

Barry Leonardini is going to be at the opera. I told him that if you guys were just shy of 64 he'd be getting lots of phone calls.
