Array Migopod,
Don't you find it both hilarious and quite disturbing that Beck, O'Riley, and Hannity are participating in Teabagging...

Dave Personally I just find it hypocrytical... "Rub her feet!" - Lazarus Long, Time enough for Love, Robert A. Heinlein "Never moon a werewolf."

Unfortunately he and people like Rush use absolute falshoods to spread fear amongst people to boost his ratings. To me that does not fit into my feelings of free speach is all about. Fraud is a crime, and what people like him are spewing is nothing more than fraud. Dave Davestaint,
Fortunately, you dont get to decide who says what or what constitutes free speech.
I think what you do is dangerous and irresponsible. But enjoy...its a free country. For now. Truth is Liberal. -

Dave Seems to me that equating standing up for what someone believes in with stuffing ones scrotum in someones face might be a little...well, juvenile?
I bet you giggle when you say "teabagger"..right?
I guess if it helps discredit them or make them sound icky, it's a good thing. It's the liberal way. Truth is Liberal. -

Dave Absolutely. I think it serves as a cautionary tale for any political movement to first check urban dictionary before committing to verb choice.

Committing Fraud is not covered under the First Amendment.
Knowingingly using lies to convince people that something is true is fraud.
So explain to me what I do is dangerous and irresponsible. Inciting poeople to such levels of anger that there are threats of violence against elected officials, is dangerous and irresponsible. Watch video of these teabagging sessions if you want to see threats of violence against elected officials.

Nobody remembers that part of the quote.

Not exactly. Otherwise Borat and Alan Funt would be guilty of fraud.

Array They're still doing it Fox News must think Americans are stupid. Unfortunately, they're right.
They showed a clip from the Thursday rally where the sky was clear and the trees were changing color. Then they gave the size of the crowd and made a lot of comments about how impressive this was. The video footage of the crowd showed GREEN TREES and a CLOUDY DAY.
They said 20-45K attendees. The Washington Post said 10K.
10K is impressive for a Thursday. Why did Fox News lie? -

10K is impressive for a Thursday. Why did Fox News lie? I am shocked to learn that the Fox News Channel has continued to lie and distort, having been exposed on a fencing discussion board. "There is a fine line between clever and stupid" David St. Hubbins -

10K is impressive for a Thursday. Why did Fox News lie? That's nothing, on the G. Gordon Liddy show they estimated more than a million.

Originally Posted by I_luv_saber What about the "odd" video cutting? (This is a pet peeve of mine, one that all are guilty of at one point or another it seems) After watching the video I agree that Fox used previous footage. I have noticed that it is common to use stock footage in news stories and I see it all the time in floods, storms, hurricanes, forest fires, and such. I don't like it in those cases but it is especially wrong to use it in a story such as this where the video of the crowd was the story. So yes, Fox was wrong and I don't know how many people were really there. -

Array Follow-Up I'm home, sick, and too sick to sleep so I'm Googling and have found a few items of interest. http://mediamatters.org/research/200911110019
More details about the Fox News "inadvertent usage" of the wrong video footage and a listing of some of the other notable creative editing moments.
Beck claimed G-20 protesters in Pittsburgh carried a hammer-and-sickle symbol, but image actually came from a California school's "Class of 2007" mosaic.
On the May 1 edition of The O'Reilly Factor, during a segment suggesting that former Vice President Al Gore has profited from his advocacy of renewable energy and climate change mitigation, guest host Laura Ingraham presented clips of Gore's April 24 congressional testimony that had been edited to remove his statements that he donates the money he makes from his climate-related work to a nonprofit organization.
And just look how they altered the photographs of two reporters that Fox & Friends did a segment about: http://mediamatters.org/research/200807020002 Of course, there's nothing inherently unethical about altering the photographs of your rivals but... Wow! http://mediamatters.org/reports/200905050003 More example of Fox editing changes that misled viewers. -

Slim, when I saw this line I thought it was really ironic, as you exactly capture the consequences of the dishonest fearmongering of your favorite news outlets and their friends. It is clearly dangerous and irresponsible for them to suggest that the office of the President is occupied by somebody not a citizen, or that there are death panels, or any of dozens of other falsehoods. But since it supports your partisan side you gleefully support such distructive behavior. A real shame.
