Array New Orleans Judge Refuses to Marry Inter-Racial Couple Well I was speachless, then I started to wonder if it was just black and white. Could a white and asian marry? How about black and latino? Could Tiger Woods not marry anyone? How about Obama? "There is a fine line between clever and stupid" David St. Hubbins -

Array Loving v. Virginia? No, never happened? I guess I stand corrected then... "Sir, didn't I parry"
"You didn't take advantage of his blade enough, so no."
(I guess i should have romanced it a bit more..." -

Array What a disgrace. They need to throw this racist bastard out of office right away. A wakeup call for anyone who thinks that Obama's election means we're a post-racial society.
The positive side to this is that this guy is a rarity now (Oh, I'm sure a lot think exactly as he does, but very few will put that into practice from a position of legal authority), and that he's been condemned from all political sides. That includes his governor, Jindal (R), who he would probably not let marry white folks either. "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

The racist judge is a rarity, widely reviled or scoffed at from all sides as a crackpot -- that seems to indicate that real racism is the exception rather than the rule in this society. Just because you have the right, that doesn't mean it is right. -

Array I'll think it's a post racial society when race really doesn't matter. Obviously, we're not there yet.

Electing a black president is a pretty good sign that we're less concerned about someones skin color than most societies are. Truth is Liberal. -

Array You're so funny, Slim.
Re-read the title of this thread, and explain to all of us how "we're closer to being there than any other country".
In Slim's universe, evidence of racism in an official position proves we're less racist than any other country. Fantastic! What a knee-slapper! "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

Obviously you don't travel the world too much. Or if you do, you certainly dont get out our your hotel room much.
Between a few bible thumpers and a wacky poll in Jersey and some redneck JP somewhere in the deep south, you libs here sure do get all worked up over some silly stuff.
I'm surprised you cant really grasp the statistical relevance of these outliers. Unless of course you think this represents a majority of the population? Or maybe it just supports your causes better than a mathematically accurate sampling. I'll pick the latter.
No, a redneck dufus in the south doesn't really concern me as much as it seems to frighten you. Truth is Liberal. -

And, they can't marry children, either.
In some states, they could marry other men, but that leaves out an awful lot of straight men and gay men who are unwilling to relocate as potential spouses.
I could go on, but even I am tired of this trope. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! Similar Threads -
