Array Going on Disability Well, today is my last day here, as soon as I get back from my conference on Wednesday I will be on disability. I don't think I am disabled but apparently others do.
I am so anxious today. I am hoping two things
1) I don't set off an incident today; and
2) I have enough energy for the conference and don't set off an incident at the conference. Although MA General has a good neuro department)
I already have about 40 gazillion things I want to do while out and having another craniotomy is not one.
I think I am going to go to the chair camp over Thanksgiving.
Thank you all for the help and thoughts and Prayers. Score 3 strokes, 4 seizures and 2 brain surgeries
I've had brain surgery, what's your excuse? -

Array Darryl,
Best of luck with the new phase of your life. Don't think of it as disabiltiy, just think of it as being financially secure enough to have the time to do some of the fun, low/no paying things you've always wanted to do! Kind of like early retirement.
Read, and keep close at hand, Jeremiah 29:11. Time to turn an go another direction. You can do it. Remember who's walking with you.

Array Congrats on entering a new chapter of your life. The unknown is always scary, but we are all certain that you will find your way through it. Come on! After living through brain surgery figuring out what you're going to do with yourself should be a piece of cake! Enjoy! Array That requires thinking. Using my brain too much hurts. Seriously. Like the bumper sticker says, well, it doesn't say it. You have to look a it. Fencing, it's not just a sport, It's an obsession.
I just feel like I am being "Kicked to the curb." I was told I AM going on disability. Jeeze, can you stand a new me? Score 3 strokes, 4 seizures and 2 brain surgeries

Array I suggest going flying with somebody. Hang around the airport more :P In Flanders fields the poppies grow - Between the crosses, row on row, - That mark our place, and in the sky, - The larks, still bravely singing, fly, - Scarce heard amid the guns below. ~John McCrae -

Array Actually, I don't think they are going to allow me behind a stick or a yoke soon given my recent history. I am flying to Boston tomorrow for my association's annual law conference. Score 3 strokes, 4 seizures and 2 brain surgeries

Dealing with it is much like the grief process; you just have to work through it, which you are, with the help of your fencing friends and family.
Pray for strength and turn and face the new day! -

You can always go just for the ride-along... you don't have to fly :P In Flanders fields the poppies grow - Between the crosses, row on row, - That mark our place, and in the sky, - The larks, still bravely singing, fly, - Scarce heard amid the guns below. ~John McCrae
