Count of Monte Cristo DVD

OK I know I already asked this question and had a few answers saying it was out.

Problem is looking around I find that the release date of Oct. 9th is in America.

No sign of it in the UK at all - so does anyone have any idea when its out in the UK??

I have tried amazon and a few other sites but can't find a release date anywhere

I agree with epeemike81, but in comparison to movies of the last 5 years that include some fencing, it was pretty decent.

I'd agree with the exception of two moves from the last fight. 1) You can't cut with a smallsword, and 2) the overhead shot of a lunge from lower frame to top frame is off line. Granted, stage combat is ALWAYS off line, but if you're going to put the camera ABOVE the action, you need to make the action in line so it doesn't look like a miss! Did anyone else catch this, or is it just me being anal retentive while watching stage combat?

Sorry to say I can't tell you when the Count comes out in the UK.

I agree that as a movie with fencing in it that it was done quite well (in my book anyway) and no Doug I didn't catch the part at the end that you are refering to, but that could just be from my personal experiance or lack there of.

Although, I also agree that if you read the book it wasn't exactly grand. For the majority of the movie it followed the book as well as a movie could, but it did stray quite far at one point in the movie which I will not give away out of respect for those who might not have seen it yet.

Other then that I loved the book, read it three times, but I enjoyed the movie as a movie. If I were a movie critic, and basing my statement in refrence to the book I would say the movie definatly could have used some improvement.

Then again, it's quite difficult to fit everything of such a book as the Count into a small enough amount of time to keep the audiance awake, and stick to the story, while getting the big bucks to come in.

From what I have read concerning the Gérard Depardieu version, I would not watch the movie. They changed quite a bit. The main killer is that the end of the story is changed significantly.

PM me if you wish to know how.
