Side of the Strip Rules I was wondering what the current interpretation/enforcement of the side of the strip rules are. Is it being called when the foot crosses the plane or when it lands? Does everything that is in motion considered valid or only for the person who stayed on the strip? I would especially like to hear from anyone who can say how it was called at the recent NAC. -

It should be called when the foot completely crosses the plane, but since seeing that and making a call on it is very difficult, most referees use the "when it lands" as the time to make the call.
If "A" steps off in order to initiate an attack or riposte, then the point will not count. If the stepping off occurs at the conclusion of the attack or riposte, the point will count. The innocent party's actions will count as long as it starts before the "halt" is called.
I made several calls for going off the side. Called halt, moved the fencer back a meter. That's that. -

Array Speaking of the strip: I recall in another thread, someone mentioned that it should be 2.5 meters wide, I'm not generally a knit picker, but isnt' that 2.0, I saw 2.0 in the literature, but I'm not certain now. -
The rules specify that the strip is to be 1.5 and 2.0 meters wide. Similar Threads -
