Cartel epees breaking

My clubmate broke 3 cartel BF-white all within 4 months of usage.
He is not a particular hard hitter and "trains" about 3x a week.
Is there a bad batch going around that someone knows about or is it just his bad luck ?

"Cartel". What's that?

Anyway, that's a lot of any kind of blade to be breaking at that rate.
