Array Tang size differences between Visconti grip sizes I'm looking at ordering a complete epee from Fencing.net, but I intend to swap out the grip to one not available here (German). Last time I did this, I put a German grip on a blade that had come with a medium Visconti, and I had to drill the grip out a bit and cut it down because the tang was cut too short.
So, will there be a difference in tang size if I order the weapon with a large Visconti, and will it be better or worse for swapping to a German? -

Array Easiest is to order the parts seperately with a french tang and then cut to fit. The shelf for the nut is GENERALLY even with the front of the thumb hook. -

One of the two blades I'm choosing between is a Leon Paul. Can't cut that down from a French tang. Also, I'm ordering a complete weapon just because I don't have enough spare parts to build an entirely new weapon around the blade, and it's cheaper to just order a complete weapon than a blade, pad, socket, and guard.
Given what you said about the thumb hook, is there more room on a large Visconti than a medium, or will they be equal with the size being based on the size of the other parts of the grip? -

The bigger the size of the grip, the longer the distance from the nose to that shelf...it isn't standardized (and frankly, it SHOULD be, at least from the same maker). Similar Threads -
