club patch Hey!
I have my first regional comp this month, and until now I haven't bothered to get my club's insignia sewn onto my knickers. I'm left handed and not sure where the patch is supposed to go (besides the general area). Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks! -

Thanks! On your non-fencing arm (right if you're left handed), usually somewhere around midway between the shoulder and elbow.
Also try to make sure the stitching is tight enough to ensure that a point can't get caught (although something would have to really have to be way out of place for that to happen).
Beyond that, the rules tend to be fairly quite (probably because they defer to the publicity code, which bans just about anything that might be considered an advertisement - fortunately the publicity code isn't likely to be enforced at a regional event). -
Actually, I would highly recommend against getting it sewn onto the sleeve arm of a saber lame'. Just sayin'.
(OP is a saber fencer.)

Reason: Semantics. Omitted an important word.

Array If it's for saber then unless the patch is conductive it will have to be worn somewhere where it won't cover target (usually on the jacket sleeve, underneath the lame - the downside of this arrangement being that no one can actually see the patch). -
How about on the non-weapon leg?

Array One of the saber fencers in our club has his patch ironed onto the seat of his pants. That might be an option, as well. Engineers aren't boring people. We're just people fascinated by boring things. -

Thanks! Attach it to your fencing bag. -

So does this include World Cups? Should I go to them with no patch? I currently have my club in the US and in London on it. Score 3 strokes, 4 seizures and 2 brain surgeries
I've had brain surgery, what's your excuse? -

Array I have a club patch sewn onto the back pocket of my fencing knickers. I have worn them at three Vet World Championships now without incident...
Of course, the FIE does not care about these the way it does about World Cups, so YMMV. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Array Some of the sabre fencers in my area used to sew their club patches on their hip, on the side away from the weapon hand. Don't think I've seen one lately, though. -

Array Hmmm...
Given the availability of colored (and, sometimes, multi-colored) lamés, surely it would be possible to create one or more patches from the same conductive fabrics as those lamés, and attach it to the sleeve of a sabre lamé in the same way that a conductive patch to cover a dead spot would be secured, yes?
Alternatively, does anyone know of any attempts to apply a conductive, spray-on coating to a fabric patch? If so, what was the end result? -
