Array 2010 PCCs location? Anyone know where 2010 PCCs will be held? The section website has nothing and I want to schedule it so I can set up my repair table again. -

Array My bet is on FW's garage, with NT reffing the entire event by himself if you don't count the 164 oz XBig Gulp of Mtn Dew he lugs around. Randal : [after the fire at the Quick Stop] Terrorists?
[Dante shakes his head]
Randal : I left the coffee pot on again, didn't I?
[Dante nods] -

Array FW's not involved. And please don't bring my brother into this discussion. -
In an ideal world: Vegas. Vegas with lots of good refs flown in from around the US (cheaply b/c they'll work for beans if it's in Vegas). Also they'd hire me and I'd masquerade as one of those good refs. I now dangle to the left....my tassle. Get your minds out of the gutter.

Im waiting for a counter offer from Pasadena convention center, but Im leaning towards The Alexsis park in vegas. I will decide this week. Go to the well until the well is dry. When the well is dry find a new well. -

Lean harder towards Vegas please -- especially if Pasadena involves that concrete slab flooring that brutalized us last time. The savings in physical therapy bills alone would more than balance out any extra bar tabs in Vegas ... -

I remember advancing into a ditch! -

Array Sacramento was BMFP. Sac had concrete floors, Pasadena was carpeted on certain locations. Vegas would be more fun. Alexis Park is a nice place as well. And the carpeted floor is great for the fencing. -

FYI - the flooring was the biggest factor in my choice of Long Beach State last year - to my knowledge, we had no serious injuries (unlike PCC's '08 - 2 or 3 serious leg-related ones)...
Unfortunately, most convention/hotel spaces don't have wood flooring (I personally don't think that the carpet over slab is enough). Long Beach State has wood floors, as do most gyms/colleges. -
Long Beach is a great location. Easy to get to, plenty of parking, good floors, lots of space for bags, changing clothes, bathrooms, weapons check and vendors.
In the off hours its near the beach. What's not to like? -

I'd vote for somewhere in northern california. for the past 2 it has been in southern cal. if you're going to do it in long beach again, why not try the queen mary? it has large convention/reception facilities plus rooms where peeps could stay.. all inclusive would be great. I love poetry, long walks on the beach, and poking dead things with a stick -
QM is price uncompetitive, I understand. -

NorCal would have been great, but there are very few venues that I could find that would even be possible, and the ones that I did were expensive and had varying faults. The first choice that I had was the Alameda County Fairgrounds, but the problem was that it was cement flooring. I had hoped that we could have talked the USFA into stopping with their strips on the way to Portland, but they wouldn't.
It will likely be in Vegas this year... -
will be in Vegas for the Duel, NOT for PCC's.. I don,t need to be in vegas 2times this year since there are other venues and NACs. I truly fear that if you settle on vegas, there will be plenty of refs and not fencers. at least not many of the nor cal fencers. and since PCC's is a SN qualifier, I don't think it would be fair to expect the cal fencers to travel out of state to vegas (since duel is already there) since the majority of fencers would be coming from cal.. as you can tell, i dont support the vegas idea....good luck... this will limit alot of people from attending... It may be too late for this season, but for the future, if you can find an affordable suitable venue in another location, I am sure the PCC governance would be happy to consider an alternate option to Las Vegas.

I'm from NorCal and . . . . I prefer to travel to Las Vegas and I will attend PCCs if they are in Las Vegas. I am less committed to another PCCs in Southern California. However, the key thing is to schedule them as soon as possible so that we can all make plans for the appropriate dates. -
what I think people are forgetting, is there are 13yr olds that can participate in the jr's and sr's. Vegas is not appropriate for 13 year olds and not every adult is a drinker or gambler. While going to the shows is fun, some do have age restrictions and not everyone is wanting to drop the $50 bucks per person for to do that. Referee's generally do not come with their families in tow, but I can assure you, young fencers do. I love poetry, long walks on the beach, and poking dead things with a stick -
From what I understand Vegas has gone out of its way to ensure that there are plenty of family friendly options, activities and non-drinking/gambling alternatives to traditional Vegas. The "strip" may not be entirely 13yr old friendly or affordable (although I understand parts of it are) but certainly there's more in Vegas than the strip. I now dangle to the left....my tassle. Get your minds out of the gutter.
