    FIE uniforms

    Hi,

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I assume these questions could be helpful to anyone preparing for international competition.

Does the FIE restrict the flags on uniforms, such as on the back of the lame? I've heard mixed messages regarding this.

Also, for the national uniform stripes, logos, etc. which are found in the FIE pdf somewhere online, is the exact size of those decorations measured or checked and what is their mandated location on the uniform? Can the fencer's name be on the pants, or must it be on the lame?

Third, are visors required for FIE foil?

Fourth, are there any considerations or things I should be aware before purchasing full FIE gear and getting the necessary stenciling/uniform decorum for international competition.

Everyone's input is much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

While the FIE may accept some things on a "team wide" basis I wouldn't recommend trying anything on your own. The FIE can sometimes be rather persnickety about "uniform appearance" among team mates.

It may depend on whoever is making the decision regarding what qualifies as "uniform appearance" however there have been times when everyone on a team has been required to either have stenciled national logos or embroidered, sewn-on national logos, with no mixing of the two.

The name must be on the lame (a name on the leg would interfere with placement of the national logo).

IIRC visor masks are required starting at the round of 32 for both foil and saber.
