Guard registers on target for foil. Any insight?? Hi all,
I'm a new fencing coach whose understanding of the electric system is basic. a fencer in the right side hits the fencer on the left 's foil guard and gets the on target. This was done with several weapons and body cords. Any ideas? Is it the reel? If so, how would I fix . Thanks so much to any problem solvers out there. -

Array Check the body cord. If the lame doesn't register as target, your body cord lines probably got swapped.

Have you tried hitting the guard while the fencer is not holding the weapon (eliminating glove sweat)?
I'd say it's most likely a wiring error either in the reel or on the floor cord (A and C wires hooked up incorrectly). Sometimes happens with body cords, but as you have stated, several different ones were tried, so all of those would have to be bad.
Try this: Depress the tip of the foil against both the A and C ends of the body cord and work backwards (the reel cable, then on the floor cord) to identify the malfunctioning piece. Contact to A should get a light, contact to C should not. -
Think It's the Floor cord. Thanks for your feedback. I tested the body cord, reel then floor cord. It was still going on target with the floor cord. I then switched the cord and the on target showed for other fencer , so it must be that. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction all. btw anyone have a link or info on fixing floor cord? Very relieved though that it was not the reel $) -

Check out Purple Fencer's signature line. He has a link to his web site which includes information on repairing equipment. - It's not that I chose to fence, it's that I feel I have to fence. -
