Array Relatively New Referee, Saying Hi! Greetings and salutations! I'll try to keep my introduction both brief and grammatical.
I fenced competitively in high school until injury forced me out (foil only). Recently my husband (foil and epee and relatively uninjured) and I moved to Houston, and we discovered the thriving fencing community around here. He immediately went back to fencing, and I figured that if I was going to be hanging around I should make myself useful. So I've been focusing on becoming a referee, and am now in my second season as a F8 E8 S9 ref.
I'd heard people talk about fencing.net, and just purusing the archives has been educational. I suspect that it will be a big help as I strive to improve my refereeing skills.
So thanks for the archives, and thanks in advance for the advice, and please go easy on me! -

Array welcome, SpiralGalaxy. There is indeed active conversation of fencing and refereeing, and some f.net members are extremely qualified. Two suggestions: browse the fencing topics board at http://www.fencing.net/forums/forum25.html to see prior discussions, and before starting a new thread, use the search facility to see if that topic has already come up.
Again, welcome to fencing.net "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

Welcome a-board. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! Similar Threads -
