Honestly, find a glove that fits and is comfortable for you. That's the best glove you can get (for any weapon). I personally use an overglove because 1) I do fence foil on occasion and don't really want to buy multiple gloves and 2) my forearms are disproportionate to my hands, so I have a hard time finding a glove that will cover my forearms and fit my small hands. For a good portion of last season, I wore a glove that was pretty much held together with electrical tape...just because it was comfortable.

I would reccomend the Leon Paul Sabre glove. It had good padding, has a nice cuff that doesn't poof out, and you put it on like foil/epee gloves with velcro, which isn't the case with most sabre gloves as far as I can tell. I hate shoving my hand into the sabre gloves that don't open up.

Also, it takes a good beating. Mine have lasted me at least a year, and I sweat a lot and destroy lame material like crazy. I think its a great value for the price.

    Half-points for the spotty capitalization!

Anyway, I use an American Fencers Supply washable glove, mainly because it's the closest I can find to an all-white glove these days, without going back to leather. Then I use a manchette over it.

I have an Uhlmann lame-cuff glove, which is fine but has blue panels, and the cuff isn't long enough for my tastes. ( I think this is what Ivan Lee was wearing in a certain notorious photo. )

I also have an LP, which I have never worn because I don't care for the shiny gold lame material of the cuff.

    Picky bastage, ain't I?

I use a soft leather glove with an AF Signature series Cuff, I really prefer to feel my weapon not my glove like with the ultra suede gloves.

I have a BG stainless glove. Like the LP, it has the velcro all the way down, like foil epee gloves. Comfortable, cheap, and works.

We use the PBT glove and really like the way it holds up. As previously mentioned your best bet is one that fits you well.

Maybe i was better off getting the LP glove, considering i spent about $40 on my glove and the LP was only aboout $15 more. My friend has the pervious years version of my glove and it seems to be working well for her, the only problem is that it is quite dirty and not washable.

In California, most fencers must have a special license to carry a concealed weapon in order to carry their glove in their bag.

    True story. but not really...

EDIT: By the way, whatever you do... man, do not spray that thing with Lysol. I learned that the hard way.

Dirt and grime are a sign of a well loved glove.
JMHO, but spending that kind of money on a glove isn't justified to me unless it fits perfectly in every way. Yes, I understand LP makes great stuff, but I end up having to alter every glove I have ever seen and purchased (like I said before, due to a combination of a small hand size and larger forearms - the forearms are mostly a product of my job). My $12 BG glove has stood up for a good long time now (my Santelli glove was better...that bugger - with the help of some electrical tape - lasted 12 years before I had to bury it in the backyard!). It's a little easier on the wallet when you have to replace a glove when it's $12...and the over glove was only $20 (again easier on a Paramedic's wallet). Like I said before, just make sure it's comfortable. I'd hate to see you spend $55 on a glove and find that it is the most uncomfortable thing to wear.
Oh yea...and if it's not washable and stinky - stuff a new dryer sheet in it when not in use. I do the same thing for my shoes...now they don't try to walk away on their own anymore.

The Lysol just mixes with the stink and makes things worse for some reason. And it will transfer the smell to anything in your bag (in my experience).

I tried this before Fabreeze was popular though, so maybe that might do something...

As a general rule you want to be careful about using any chemicals around conductive material (such as the cuff of a saber glove). Use the wrong cleaning product and you'll destroy the conductive properties of the material.

Unfortunately it's difficult to say which specific products to avoid since they can vary with the type of conductive fabric. Stainless steel is usually pretty good about resisting most things but some of the lightweight, washable fabrics can be very sensitive.

I never really thought about having to be careful because of the conductive material in the glove. Thanks for reminding me though.
