two fencers at the club are married and have a two year old son. One saturday when i was at practice, the son picks up a mask, a glove, and puts them on and picks up a sabre and starts lunging. is that not the cutest thing ever?

I think the OP said lunge and not flail, which suggests he's really a foil fencer at heart. There was probably no foil around for him to pick up, and the options were either a saber or a broom, and some other kid got to the broom first.
