Hey guys, I've been fencing with my sabre for about 15-20 hours of actual fencing, and the leather grip is basically shot. I decided to use a tennis Overgrip on it (this one is too thick, though, I need a thinner one), which is nice but is a little heavy. An unforseen positive side effect was that the grip is now larger in diameter, which is great for my XL sized hand.
Question: Is this a good idea?
Is this competition-legal?
Are there better alternatives?

Hmm Golf grip - didn't think of that. Might actually work better.
Yay legal!

Yeah... pretty much everything is legal (well - mostly). Most common things seems to be golf tape, baseball bat tape, tennis racket tape... you get the idea.
Actually, my favorite was a twine wrapped grip I once had. Very nice, but had to be re-wrapped once every few months.
