i was under the impression he was a foiilist, but he very well may be an epeeist, i saw an old segment on mtv with him fencing and it said he was fencing foil, but im pretty sure it was an epee,!

He was a kick ass foilist from what i have read? anyone agree or dissagree?
He was an "ok" foilist from back in the day. I believe he made it to the top 10 at one point but says that that was during a quiet year (for everyone else). He hasn't fenced foil competitively in a long time. He has come back to the sport recently and is doing Epee. I am probably fencing him next week as part of a charity event.
lucky! bruce dickinson is like my idol (obviously im a huge metal and maiden fan)! maiden was nothing until bruce came along, he has the best voice in my opinion, him and rob halford!

I fenced Bruce back in the day. They were on tour and came to Lubbock Texas. I was pres. of the Double T fencing club at the time. We set up a strip and fenced eepe and foil.
I was a very strong C foilist then. (Had scared a B several times). We fenced for about an hour and a half together. (The other fencers were too star-struck to get on the strip with him). At the end we fenced several 15 touch bouts. Bruce barely won in foil, I barely won in eepe.
He was respectful. Polite. Amiable.
The rest of the band played with the soccer club.

I think it would be really great to fence Bruce, i think that would be just the most amazing experience of my lifetime, even though i am a saberur. Im going to an iron maiden concert next year with some friends, and am considering going in full fencing gear

Don't go in fencing gear. This is going to sound harsh but accept this advice; doing so will be lame. Have you been to a gig before?
Eh my friends and i were going to do it to be funny, i have been to a gig, havn't seen Maiden play though, which has been my dream band and once my friend asked me if i wanted to go next year i immediatly agreed. Iron Maiden is the gods of metal.

At the time, I would've prefered a couple bottles of wine with Laurie Anderson, gettin' a burger with the Minutemen, or doing drugs with Gibby Haynes... but to each his own.

Concur. In the '80s, we just closed a Jersey tournament when he walked in with his long hair, knee-high boots and British accent. Not knowing him we thought him weird, but he fenced respectfully. At tournament's close he told us the next time he'd do an NYC Madison Square Garden concert, he would invite us to a pre-concert meet on stage and front-row seats after. I moved out of the area before that occurred. Anybody here participate?

At a recent tournament I was standing in line at the cafe waiting for a coffee. A couple of my mates were laughing and pointing in my direction and thought I'd spilled something down my front. So I'm standing there looking confused... before it dawns on me that the wee guy next to me was Bruce. I guess he looks taller and more "metal" on stage.

I remember he actually fenced in the tournament, held at Salle Santelli in NJ. He made it to the round of 6 or 8 and was very pleased when he got a medal. As Gav said, he was "okay", but I wouldn't call him much more than that.
He had a really strong accent and very nice manners and acted like a "regular guy". When he left he asked if anyone wanted a lift to New York. I invited him to come down to NYFC, and when he did some of the teenagers got all excited about it.
