If there is more than one email address on file, do you know if information is sent to one or both?

    ie: parent/child, work/home/school, etc.

Before the auto-system, emails where sent to all addresses.

First to send an e-mail to support... it's been more than twenty minutes and no activation e-mail has arrived.

Hopefully the tubes are just a little clogged today and it's not a big problem, but I don't think this bodes well for the future.

According to the USFA system, my athlete ratings are correct, but my referee ratings are badly out-of-date. I've been using the ones listed on foc.askfred.net when I apply for tournament jobs; am I effectively using ratings I don't have? Which ones count?

Check your spam box. I received my email in less than a minute.

Just went and registered. The interface is a little clunky, but it seems to work fine. As a bonus it finally let me change my gender back to male (I called the USFA a couple times to assure them I did not undergo a sex change operation and am still male, but it never got updated in their records).

my 3 year membership expired, and as expected, I do not show up in the current member list. However, when I try to register, it says my membership DOES already exist, and I don't receive an e-mail. Message says it will send it to my hotmail account, but it is my yahoo account that is on file. Nothing in either account's junk folder, and I already sent test messages to both accounts, and am receiving e-mail without a delay.

Problem solved -- they had a data entry typo in my e-mail address.

When calling the office for support for the membership application, select option 1.

    my thoughts:

    - the way new members sign up is either potentially unsafe or pretty inconvenient.
    - member lookup for attaching a coach doesn't work
    - no obvious path for common tasks (i.e., renewing membership). have to make several clicks instead of a simple link on one of the main menus.
    - you can't change club membership when renewing your membership, you have to submit a separate request. the form that you submit this request on has no specific 'club change request' choice.
-printed version of the card is huge, doesn't fit in wallet as printed.

Didn't receive anything so maybe only one email address is being used and if so not sure which one is being used.

Call the office and select option 1. They will be able to tell you which e-mail address they have on file that is being used and/or they can change it right on the spot for you.

Thanks but they are probably a bit busy, so I don't want to bother them today.

If the information is only going to one email address, it may be good if the option could be changed to at least two email recipients, especially if the athlete is a minor.

Works fine for me, as long as the person you want to mark as your coach is a USFA member.

And the "Member Search" UI that the "find my coach" function uses looks generic enough to be used for all kinds of things. You can use it to search for all USFA members of a particular USFA club or division for example.

One way to play with the "Member Search" function without having to go to the "find my coach" is to login and go directly to:

    https://www.usfencing.hangastar.com/...true&CoachNo=1

The results returned using that for member search by division include club info -- something that's not available via the weekly CSV or html versions posted to the USFA website. It doesn't show classification though. [Or whether the membership is current etc ]

didn't work for me. tried to search for coaches based on division, section, club, etc. each time, it turned up the full list of members instead of any subsection based on the search terms.

Yes. And any of them can be tagged as your coach, no matter what their type of membership. So it doesn't filter by restricting the results to only those with a coach membership type, but it does work in that they (and everyone else matching the other search criteria) show up and can be selected as your coach. I'd consider this more of a feature, not a bug.

Especially since the USFA could later do a search and find non-coach members who've been declared as coaches by other members and then try to upsell them to a coach or the new proposed "professional" type of membership.

I think they have added a new person dedicated for membership support -- that is why they added option 1, but you have to wait to listen to the entire message before finding that out.
