what are qualifiers? Can someone please explain to me what qualifiers are? For instance, if you are on the 14s points list, do you still need to qualify for SN's? If you're on the Cadets pts iist, do you need to qualify for JO's and SN's?
When is one exempt from qualifiers? Where do you have to place to qualify? What if you qualify but don't go? Would you be robbing someone of a spot?
Thanks for any info! -

Thanks for any info! There are instances where someone auto-quals...don't remember what they are, tho. If you auto-qual, you do not have to fence in the qualifier tourney...but nothing says you can't fence in it anyway.
Which answers one of your other questions...if you qual and don't go, you're not taking anyone's slot. If you don't fence in the qual -- auto qual or no -- you might, however, COST someone a spot.
The # of qualifiers is a specific percentage of the overall field, minus any auto quals...so if you have 21 people competing and 30% (less the autos) can go, that's 7 people. If the top 3 are autos, that means the overall top 10 can go. -

You can look at section 2.7 for a explanation of Qualifiers and then 2.11( I believe) for a description of those that would be auto-qualified.
Good luck!

one more question If you just are looking for tournaments in which to fence, can you fence in a division qualifier even if you're not from that division? -
No.
The Athlete's Handbook should address the restrictions on fencing in Divisional Qualifiers too. Similar Threads -
