It's not so much gay as liking sex.

I didn't know that epee (in general) or epees (in particular) had genders or sexes. I also didn't know that they had sex.

I'm guessing epee must have sex with foil (since i'm guessing that those are the ones you would call "gay"), and then I guess sabre just sits home alone in front of the computer....

THAT must be why you fence sabre!!

I was kind of wondering at all the remise battles. Looked like WF at points.

Can we have Tagliariol vs Roberti in the 16 next? The mental aspect of that bout is interesting to me. It seems like halfway through the 2nd period, Tagliariol suddenly decides that he'd actually really like a gold medal. On a similar note, it would be interesting to see how techniques and tactics and mental aspects are carried across a competition.

That was my first choice, but I was worried people would think I was overdoing the Tagliariol bouts. I'll do that one next. I agree, but note that Tag does that in every frickin' bout he fences.

Screw it, he won the gold, people can watch him a bit

I agree with what you're saying, but he does seem to ride that wave through his bout with Bas and even into the final a bit, I think.

Thanks so much! The commentaries are really useful to me as a new fencer who doesn't always know what to look for yet.

I know it probably means two videos instead of one, but if there's more slow-motion footage, could you include it in the next one please? I really liked having that in some of the other epee commentaries because I was able to see the *exact* moment when fencer A was committed and in distance that fencer B chose to make his attack.

Again, thanks for the great work!

Yeah, I like the slow-mo too, but I'm limited to whatever is in the footage. Hopefully the net video will have it. :-)

Feel like doing some tactic-themed (or preparation-themed) videos such as Andrew's recent offerings?

Something showing how a couple of different people set up the same or similar actions and execute them, rather than looking at a particular bout or person. Or how several people handle a class of attempted action from their opponents.

I already know how to fleche out of distance just like (and with the same result as) Imre. I must be ready for the Olympics!

    Thanks epeelion and CyrusofChaos!

I'll second that and add a small suggestion. Leave the commentary up on screen for just a little longer, please. A couple of them were hard to catch with the pause button. Excellent commentary, though. Thanks!
And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

Hmm, maybe. Definitely point taken on leaving the comments on screen longer. The only issue with the different style is that it is more complicated to do, and I am really, really busy with school, Not sure i it's feasible for me right now. I'll try though! In the meantime, I may do Tagliariol-Robieri sometime soon.

Well if you're going to make adjustments, can we oldsters beg for a slightly larger font? I'm taking a magnifier glass to the screen to try and read some of it. But really do appreciate the commentary and the effort we all realize that goes into putting these together.

Are you watching in full-screen mode? Click the YouTube link at the top of the inset video here. Once on the YouTube site click the second icon from the right at the bottom of the video (looks like a squarish rectangle with the upper left quadrant colored differently).

Watching in High Quality (the "HQ" icon) is also recommended.

Great job. I particularly like your summary comment about moving a lot vs. moving strategically.
