    visor expirations

I am suddenly in a quandary. I just did a search for lexan mask expiration. My mask, a PBT FIE sabre mask, has "0708" on it, thusly:

    0
    7
    0
    8

which I thought meant July 2008, in which case it is valid for Veteran Worlds (2 years from the date of manufacture, which would be right for when I purchased it), but in this thread Purple Fencer says "PBT: Year/month (with a apostrophe next to the year...so it'd be '08, for example)" I don't see an apostrophe. and I don't see a slash.

    Anybody know?

I was assuming I didn't have to buy a new visor, and we're being told we don't necessarily have to wear the visor masks for Veteran Worlds, so when I was at Absolute today I didn't do anything about it. I leave next Monday for Moscow, so if I have to do something in haste I'd like to know.

    Any suggestions?

I thought you preferred your traditional mask? Which, when combined with the previously-announced rule modification that lexan masks will not be required in Moscow, would seem to take care of the issue in any case.

I'll PM you Dan DeChaine's email address. He should be able to provide reliable information about how to assess your current shield.

    Thanks, Brad. I'll e-mail him.

I do prefer my traditional mask, which is why I've worn it for practice and why it has patched spots, and would have to be replaced this week. The visor mask reposes in a mask bag, rarely pulled out, and therefore still passes.

I have also learned to bring back-up for everything to Veteran Worlds, because I never know what won't be enforced or why.

Ask Dan to be sure, but I seem to recall PBT telling me they were going to go month/year format like everyone else...I just don't recall when that would change.

Now I'm wondering whether they will insist that all memebers of a team use the SAME sort of mask: regular or visor, no mix and match...
Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you!

Update - I e-mailed PbT and Peter told me 0708 means August 2007, so I had him FedEx me a new visor.
