1. sadaam was being used to neutralize the threat that the terrorist state of iran posed to us. (remember the embassy hostages?)
2. we gave them weapons to keep sadaam in check (so we keep them fighting each other and making themselves weaker instead of fighting us).
3. the "terrorists" in south america were fighting for their freedom against a SOCIALIST REGIME. we didnt need the soviets getting another foot hold in the western hemisphere.
