    Considering starting a fencing club in the south shore

    I've recently graduated college and moved to the south shore of Boston (Hingham/Weymouth area).

    When I tried to find a nearby club to fence at, I haven't found any clubs south of Boston. What's more, from what I can find none of the nearby schools has any sort of fencing program.

    So what I may have here is a largely untapped population of potential fencers.

    While I do have some experience coaching, and I've managed my college club for the past few years, I don't have much experience when it comes to commercial clubs.

    So I guess I'm mostly looking for advice on how to go about getting a club started.

    3mb claims to have locations in your area. See;

    It would have been wise for me to check the NEUSFA site. It seems that 3MB and SaEF both have satellite locations in the area, although the quality/frequency of practices is not clear on their websites.

    I haven't heard of SaEF. Anybody know about the club?

    If you want good fencing, drive the extra 20 minutes to one of the numerous clubs in the Boston area that doesn't suck. If you want ****ty fencing, go ahead and start your own club.

    I understand that. Obviously I didn't expect to start a club and have excellent fencing. My point was that there didn't seem to be much around to get the local kids started in fencing without the parents actively seeking it by driving their kids through the city. No matter anyway, it was just a thought and it has moved in a different direction.
