It was wrong for lefties to call Bush a Nazi, and it's just as wrong to righties to do the same to Obama.
Besides, what's the point of providing "evidence" to a person who's ignoring responses and brags about it? You throw a lot of chaff out there - like "why isn't the war on the front page", and then when it's refuted you simply ignore it too.
I agree that this is a waste of time. You fit in the "arguing with the dining room table" category. Originally Posted by Slim "If you're not a liberal by the time you're 21, you have no heart; if you're not a conservative by the time you're 40, you have no brain"
- Winston Churchill The quote that every conservative pulls out when he's otherwise losing an argument - or in your case, not even really participating in one. There is intelligent conservative thought out there - but you're not part of it.

I think when it's used in this other manner it's against the spirit of what it was originally supposed to mean. But, I also don't know what he was thinking at the time... that's just how I read it . Array I'm fine with your interpretation. We do need both, after all. I dislike the use of the quote when it's presented as a fairly direct way of saying "you have no brain."
Notwithstanding that the Straw Man in the Wizard of Oz was smarter than the others, "if I only had a brain notwithstanding" "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

I also suspect that most conservatives are equally ignorant of the history surrounding Churchill's reasons for framing such a quote. -

Array I note that it is not universally accepted that Churchill actually said this since he was a conservative in his youth and a liberal when he was older.
He was a Conservative at age 25. He switched to the Liberal Party at age 29 and was a Liberal at age 35. (He returned to the Conservatives at age 49.) His wife was a life-long Liberal. Additionally, Conservatives and Liberals were PARTIES in the UK, and their platforms do not directly reflect the liberal and conservative positions of left/right politics in America. http://www.winstonchurchill.org/lear...ly-attributed# -

Array Thanks, Keith, Linda.
I remembered that Churchill crossed parties, but I couldn't remember the order he did it in. "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." Similar Threads -
