First $1000 awarded. ... You got what it takes?

EDIT: As this is posted, we're just a few days away from Oct. 24 event. Still time for a last-minute drive in. Check out the entry list here: http://askfred.net/Events/moreInfo.p...nament_id=9045

In the final epee bout of the first Allstar Limo Grand Prix, Daniel Rees (Colorado) beat Stephen Mihalsky (Oklahoma) for the gold medal and $1000.

Someone is going to walk way with the prize money again on Oct. 24, regardless of how many people sign up (the sponsor did not specify a minimum entrant level). And if you're worried about whether you'll get enough fencing to make it worth your effort, consider that the first event in August was a single, big pool. As, Bs and Cs only -- NAC-like training, cheaper, and with the added benefit of a payoff! You've got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

The series is building up to a big finale with $5000 for first prize.

    No.
Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you!

So when are the organizers going to convince the sponsors that it's worth expanding to sabre?

Possibly when the sponsor himself starts fencing with a weapon other than epee?

And registration for the third in the series on Nov. 21 is open now as well.
I so want to go, maybe for November. I have concert tickets for the Oct. 23rd, but the flights are reasonable from the Bay Area and I was sorely tempted anyway.

BUMP: Just a couple weeks away from the event. Still time to get in. ((Link to FRED at top of this thread.))

It was originally assumed that putting an upper limit (28) on entrants would prompt early registrations. This hasn't been the case -- everyone is still waiting for the other guy to sign up first -- so the event sponsor and club operator *might* make some changes in the rest of the series. ... For those of you who attend this month's tournament, it would be worth discussing before you leave.

The answer to that question when I asked was something along the lines of "When the sponsor starts fencing sabre." The tone implied this was unlikely.
