Which Club?

Hello,

I'm new to fencing. Hoping to start adult beginner classes in September. I live in Chicago and there are about 4 clubs that offer fencing classes. Is anyone familiar with Chicago clubs? Any recommendations? Should I start with a foil, epee or sabre class? I'm a little confused. Also, I'm a bit uncomfortable borrowing equipment that others have used. That said, what equipment should I start off with as a beginner?

Well, I say fence epee, but of course I'm biased. Try them all and stick with whichever one is most fun!

And if you compete in the Chicago area this year, I'll see you there!

Where do you live in Chicago?

The Chicago Fencing Club is starting a introduction to fencing club on September 9.

You should really hold off on buying equipment until you know you like it.

Let me know if I can answer any questions. If you would like to talk or visit the club, drop me a line.

We are in the city near Irving Park and Elston.

I fence epee and like it, but you shoudl try all three weapons.
