    Montano Attack Video

Here's the thread to discuss CyrusOfChaos' Montano video:

I was trying to move the posts to a new thread but messed up in the process.

cyrus, great compilation, but i'd suggest avoiding the ambient music that has lyrics. it was distracting, at least for me. not hugely so, but it was to some degree.

The best one so far IMHO - quite educational at least for me.
Choice of music is somewhat amusing.
    Thanks a lot.

    Too much MTG for you...

what the heck are you guys talking about? "trample attack" is just my abbreviation for a quick, footwork-based attack. its much easier than typing quick, footwork-based attack every time, especially since i dont want the words in the video to be too small. i chose the word trample because it looks like what an animal does when its charging and i thought "trample attack" sounded better than "stampede attack" etc

Probably best that you not know.

"Trample Attack" works well... people can understand what you mean, which is, after all, the point of communications.

I like the term "Trample Attack". Though I particularly like the very light and alternating in-out pattern of footwork he does against Samele while continuing a forward pressure at exactly the right times to hold back a counter attack. This finish isn't so much a trample as it is a finesse which is based on the pattern set by the earlier trample. It's a beautiful point and IMO it's some of the finest footwork ever recorded on video.

    Aldo Montano

Attacking does not require Aldo Montano to tap.
If Aldo Montano and Aldo Montano's coach are both in play, all RoW calls are made at +5 modifiers.
    (Tap) Initiate unwarranted instant replay.
During any phase, you may sacrifice Aldo Montano's coach to have one failed RoW check completely reversed.

    .........yes, I hate myself.

You forgot the "Summon Legend" part.

Not to mention summoning costs and flavor text (THERE'S any area where you could get creative!).

guys, what the hell is going on here? i dont care about the music, that is just a space filler. i try to make it mellow but if you dont like it i shouldnt have to tell you that you can mute it. and the rest of you are talking about whatever that i have no idea about. i assumed that on FENCING.net people would be more interested in discussing fencing, but every time i try to post something it turns into a discussion about terminology or music or something else entirely. does anyone have anything constructive to say about the video? what you learned, what i can do better BESIDES the music? anything?

You are making the excellent video. Thank you very much; more please. Very nice to watch the push, push, push finish.

You post was an awesome contribution to our fencing community as always. I thought your analysis of Montano's approach was pretty spot on. There is something intangible, however about Aldo's ability to catch his opponents off-balance, or rather, create that situation seemingly more frequently than others of his level. There are many who can utilize an effective "march" in setting up their actions, but few who can shift gears during the march in anticipation of a counterattack, and perhaps even fewer, who can capitalize on it.

what exactly would you consider something that you'd want to hear about your video?
