Array There is a welding technique. We used to use it on a semi automated wiring board much like a wirewrap system, but using a very short post. It was called "stitchweld". You lay the wire on the post, push a short "foot" down on it that contacts the wire from above, and another on the post below, pass enough current through it, and you get a good weld. No weld rod (or equivalent) was needed.
Wire wrap would also work, but there probably isn't enough room, and you would have to have another layer of insulation over the pin+wrap. It's a cold welding process: the sharp square pin and the tightly wrapped round wire actually weld together. Very reliable connection. -
I'm using the AF double insulated wires for both epees and foils. To my eyes, it looks like two wraps of thread over the lacquer coating on the wire.
I recently wired a couple of epees with LP wires and was surprised as to how fragile the insulation was, in fact I found that the combination of the LP wires & the glue I used, caused large sections of insulation to pull away. I managed to salvage one wiring job, but the other ended up being re-done using AF wires.

Array They also tend to pull out of the cup. I won't say much more, but Barry and Alex are aware of my opinion of their wires -

Try PBT for fragile....a good sneeze blows the outer wrap clean off...absolutely horrible. Similar Threads -
