Array Adding data makes your computer heavier "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

Array Heh. Some people are definitely humor-impaired.
So, if I compress enough files do I have to worry about my laptop becoming lighter than air and floating away? Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Array Yes, that's a real risk, and a leading cause of lost and missing laptops - the data has been compressed and they float away. However, it helps if you have a lot more 1 bits than 0 bits, as they weigh more. "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

Array Actually, lead-acid batteries become measurably heavier when charged... Pedicabo ego vos et irrumabo,

Reminds me of an article published a few years back as a 4/1 joke in an electronics trade mag... About write-only memory. They even had the tech statistics, including data transfer rates and such. -
It is perfectly logical, Captain. Those of us who do a lot of statistics, especially population level analyses, know the importance of weighting variables.
The more weighted data, the heavier the computer.
Indeed, having done an international analysis of swine flu impacts has seen my laptop end up heavier than Univac. -

Array It reminds me a little of something else we saw once.
It was on a thread with a question about the gestation period of chihuahuas and other tiny dogs.
Eventually, they got off topic with some people saying dogs were usually pregnant for over a year and someone else saying, "Well, my cat has been pregnant for five years, what does that mean?" And then they went on and on about 'pregnant cats'.
It was pretty funny.
