    Full time coaching postion

Thanks for your interest, but this position has been filled.

Red Deer Fencing Club is considering applicants for a full time coaching postion for the 2009 / 2010 season.
An epee and sabre background would be best. You must be comfortable working with children as young as 8, as much of our membership is young children.
Salary is negotiable, but limited as we are not a large club. There is no University in Red Deer, so most of our students leave at age 17 or 18. Due to this, most of our membership is recreational, but we always have a handful willing to train harder, and have sent a few good competitors to University.
This position's salary will start at $35,000 to $40,000 depending on experience, and suitability. Training and lessons five nights per week, with attendance at provincial competitions on some week-ends.
Marketing the club and expanding our programs will be part of the duties and responsibilities for this position. This will be done mainly by contacting schools to book clinics, and offering demonstrations where possible.
If you would like to know more please contact:

Thanks for pointing this out Mr. Jefferies. I'll see about getting the website updated with this as well : )

    Hello,
Just a comment to try and help. But it is always sensible to assume the rest of the world is stupid and doesn't know where Red Deer is located. And as your website has the same lacking it's rather difficult to pass word around to others that they might be interested and ought to take a look.

It might, however, be a safe assumption that no one who doesn't already know where Red Deer is will be interested in the job once they find out.... :)

Actually, Red Deer isn't too bad weather-wise. My husband's family is from the area and I've been there both summer and winter. It's a dry, hot or cold, so it's not too bad. You have to dress for it in either case.

Fencing-wise, Alberta is a pretty strong province and has some good clubs and fencers. There's worse places to end up than Red Deer Alberta. Those that enjoy a rural environment would like it.

I would take the job in a heart-beat if I was looking to move from where I currently live. If anyone wants to know more about the area, they're welcome to PM me.
