That's 'cause they got actual fencers, of course....one of them is Gago Demerchian from LAIFC (not sure which one....I WANT to say the one on the right).

I remember the Akhi one also....him on the subway in his whites. Funniest line from another black rider..."I didn't know brothers fenced!"

I think the best I've seen is the Mercedes "science of movement" ad. It's excellent.

Hmm, I actually think Akhi was in two commercials then. He was in one from 2000 Games for IBM, but I think he was also in one after that for something which is the one I think you are talking about which takes place in NYC.

Yep....Nate (the winner) is not a competitive fencer (stage combat...if you saw the History Channel's "Last Stand of the 300" about the Battle of Thermopylae, he played n Dienekes, who said (when informed that Persian arrows would blot out the sun) "So much the better...then we shall fight our battle in the shade."

The loser is Tim Weske, owner of SwordPlay in Burbank. Tim HAS competed, although the last time was in the late 90s (won the tourney...got his D foil).

I think the IBM commercial that featured Akhi was based in NYC. I distinctly remember seeing Akhi fence on a subway and hop into a cab with his equipment.

Keeth & Erinn Smart also starred in a commercial promoting Silk Soy Milk about 4yrs ago. I remember seeing the two of them fence each other and then eat cereal together after the bout.
