That sucks that yakimenko is injured. He has been one of my favorite fencers to watch for a while now, I love the unorthodox way he fences.
A question: Who is eligible to compete at the world university games? And why did the US send no one?

It seems the US doesn't send anyone because nobody knows who is qualified to go?

We didn't send a team for financial reasons. Not directly related to the current circumstances, as financial reasons are why we don't send a team somewhere between some and most of the time.
Selection in the past when we have sent athletes has been from the senior points standings. WUG has an age limit and one must be a student or a recent student (in the past for some international athletes this has also resulted in "students" going in some/many sports).
It's a multisport event. The eligibility rules are probably fairly easily accessible, although my current internet connection (in San Salvador) is poor enough that I'm having difficulty opening a second browser to go hunt for them.
