Igor has gotten away with a number of black-cardeable offences oveer the years and I guess it was a matter of time till he got one. It's just too bad that it has happened at such a high-level competition on a day when he was fencing incredibly well (2nd after pools). And from what I've heard from several different people, this was not the most clear-cut black card-eable offence out there. Maybe oiuyt can enlighten us.
My guess is that the FIE would not like its refs to comment on the web about such things. I would even hope so. But hopefully one of the fencers or spectators could dish =)

Agreed. After all, the refs interpretation of the situation cannot be challenged. Still, would be nice to know from an outsider's (i.e. non Canadian's) perspective...
