Finally, that sad sad man was put out of his misery. It must be hard for a mentally ten year old pop star, living in a grown-up world and never having anyone say "no" to him.

Overy harsh tho that comment is, it DOES illustrate the tragic nature of his life (legal issues aside)....to have that immense talent and drive, to make USE of it so very very well....and yet to be SO successful that one can't take a simple walk outside for fear of being mobbed.

Having the financial resources to create his own world was probably the only way he COULD enjoy a quiet time just for himself.

He was, perhaps, the ultimate example of the pitfalls of extreme fame.

While you could say that MJ's meteoric rise to fame was the cause of his eccentricity, it would only be because of the incredibly sharp contrast it bore to his stolen childhood. He was raised to perform or get the belt, which is definitely a way of saying "no." His relationship with his loved ones and their treatment of him in his formative years affected him more than his fame and money ever could have.

oh my God... There has literally been NOTHING on CNN but the Michael Jackson stuff every night since he's died! I swear to God if I have to hear another clip of Thriller or Beat It, I'm going to kill someone!

(The TV in the hotel lobby must be set to CNN at all times )

Better lock yourself in a closet for a few months, then, because now we are going to get the TV specials, the tributes, the retrospectives, the streets and buildings named after him. And avoid watching any music awards show in the next 5 years at all cost!

Retailers in my mall have been requesting that we play MJ music over the loudspeakers all week as a tribute to him. I have been repeatedly and politely telling them no. However, by the 7th or 8th request I simply replied, "Absolutely...on one condition...that you and all of the other retailers that have contacted us regarding this subject are required to learn the "Thriller" moves and perform in center court whenever you hear the song come up." I was berated by my supervisor and told that this was not the appropriate response to such a request.

Your request was just as reasonable as theirs. Besides, if Darth Vader, 1500 Philippine inmates, and the CG cast of that Final Fantasy movie can do it they have no excuse.

Michael Jackson is NOT dead. The death in question was that of a clone created some years ago so that the real MJ could retire to Never Never Land in order to pursue, ah, certain interests in relative peace...

    appalling

What a ball of confusion for everyone. A fantastic musicologist, but what a 'daddy'. With all of his stories about his own father I am a little upset with some of the weird stuff he did with his legally adopted kids. First he hung his kid upside down over a balcony; then he faced other charges with kids; then on tape, he has his kids all dressed up to learn how to play a game with 'daddy' and calls his three year old son 'applehead'. There was something very sadistic about him and if he had kept kids out of his life, he may have had a better shot at clearing up his past. The drugs were unbelieveable though, how do you like that? It's totally unreal, what a mess. His life in the last few years seems like another Howard Hughes. I keep coming back to that. The John Gotti bathroom, and the Howard Hughes seclusion. z

I just went back to read some of your posts, you guys are hilarious - blame it on the boogie. I just cracked up reading it.

MJ was a good guy i believe. As said before: "a regressed 10 year old".... He was aqcuitted of charges and the kid confessed to lieing. Regardless, his music was amazing.
