First Annual BSA Venturing Division National Fencing Championship

Hey all,

I want to start getting the word out. We (Millstadt Venture Crew #1826) are sponsoring the first ever Boy Scouts of America, Venturing Division National Fencing Championship.

It will be held on September 12 at Beaumont Scout Reservation in St. Louis during the BSA St. Louis Area Council's Venturing Fall Fun Rally.

http://askfred.net/Events/moreInfo.p...nament_id=8776

Right now it is foil only. If we get referee volunteers and enough fencer interest we might be able to add epee and/or saber.

This is not USFA but will follow all USFA regulations. No ratings will be handed out.

To be eligible a BOY OR GIRL must be a member of a Venturing Crew or a member of a Boy Scout Troop, have graduated 8th grade and be between the ages of 14 and 20.

Scouts can camp at Beaumont that weekend. The Fall Fun Rally is huge and has many other activities besides fencing. For more info about the Fall Fun Rally go here: www.fallfunrally.org

The Fall Fun Rally costs $12 and includes an event Tee-Shirt. There is no additional fee to enter the tournament.

Scouts can register for the tournament on askfred. However, Scouts must also register for the Fall Fun Rally and that registration will not begin until July.

Venturing is the coed program of the Boy Scouts of America which serves youth 14 years and graduated 8th grade up to their 21st birthday.
Millstadt Venture Crew has been around for about 5 years but we only started fencing last year. There are a couple of other Venture Crew fencing teams around the country and we hope we can stimulate more interest among Scouts for the sport of fencing.

Anyone with questions can contact me here on the Fencing.net page or through our Crew pages:
