Array Hi Purple Fencer
Thanks for trying to clarify. I didn't mean the contour fit system though, but the
little circle that's sort of "embedded" in the metal part of the mask... -

Array Oh...THAT....dunno....best wait for Barry or Alex Paul to respond, unless someone else knows. -

Array It's the Ouroboros. Do not inquire further, unless you are an initiate into the Mysteries. Just accept that it is the mark that identifies you ever henceforth as thrall to LP. Perform well for them, or your punishment in the afterlife will be terrible! Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Array Actually, it looks like your attachment answers you question. It's an optical illusion. Been There. Done That. Too Bad. -

Array I always thought it was a marker to denote size... I could be (and probably am) wrong. < You're the most pedantic person I've ever met!

Array My Athos mask has a 1 cm by 1/2 cm peice of sheet metal soldered on the side. I always wondered what that was for. Maybe they are for a similar purpose. Live long and prosper.

Array On masks by other manufacturers, it represents a size mark. Someone from LP will have to settle it definitively.
But do watch out if it disappears. The size mark can come off, or get knocked off. Since it was probably welded on to start, I have seen it leave a defective point on the mask where it can fail a punch test. Every time I have seen this, I repaired it with a steel pop rivet since it does not reflect a deficiency in manufacture but just a boo-boo. Whoopee! My avatar is back. -

Array No, it is not an optional firewire port. It is the new usb 3.0, still in testing, but mandatory to use because it is so awesome. They found a way to plug a cable in there, and then plug it into the reel. It eliminates the need for saber mask cords, and a little screen pops up in your mask with the score. Live long and prosper.

Array It's the socket for my horns. They don't fit under my foil mask, but they do fit under my sabre mask, so I have to attatch them to the outside of my foil...how did you end up with my mask? "Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what the hell happened." ~Cora Harvey Armstrong

Array Good Question A round rivit Seems like an odd method to denote mask size.
I'd like to know the answer as well, My guess is that it's used in the production of the mask (what for I have no Idea). -

Sometimes not...my Prieur foil mask has a metal triangle for a size 3...I;ve seen a square for a 4. -

Array It's a weight for enhancing your balance and performance. Try this: Borrow a mask and do some lunges. Then, put on your mask and do some lunges. Notice the difference? Have: Leon Paul Blades Size 9.5 used, good condition, 2 RH L Uhlmann Visconti, 1 RH M Uhlmann Visconti, 1 RH M Uhlmann clone Visconti
Want: FWF Epee Points/Barrels, other random epee crap. Trade? -

Array That micro-device is the LP 2009 GPS Transciever unit. They embed this in all Leon Paul masks so that if you are fencing against one of "Team LP" then their weapons (which have specialized receivers embedded in the grips) "know" exactly where you are and can help direct the Team LP fencer's weapon at the open target.
Each member of Team LP is given the control codes and developer's kit, but it only works in a Mac environment.
Seriously - It's used to denote size. Each manufacturer has a slightly different method but it makes visually identifying the size easier than looking inside the mask for the label.

Craig All true. This is why I always wear my aluminum foil hat underneath my mask Blocks the rays. I'm a foil fencer, and I can change, if I have to, I guess. -
