Keystone Summer Games

Keystone Summer Games York PA

Open only to residents of PA, MD, DE and WV (see entry procedure below)

ELIGIBILITY: All ages as of January 1, 2009. All participants must show proof of current USFA (2008-2009) membership status. USFA memberships will be accepted at the tournament. Fencers competing in events starting at noon can not compete in any additional events on the same day.

DESCRIPTION: The competition will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 25-26 at York Expo Center, 334 Carlisle Ave., York. USFA rules will govern the tournament.

Check-in for each event closes at the following times:

Saturday, July 25

9:00am - Junior Men's Epee, Junior Women's Epee, Veteran Mixed Epee, Youth-14 Mixed Epee

12:00 pm - Men's Foil, Women's Foil

3:00pm - Mixed Sabre, Youth-14 Men's Foil, Youth-14 Women's Foil

Sunday, July 26

9:00am - Junior Men's Foil, Junior Women's Foil, Veteran Mixed Foil

12:00 pm Men's Epee, Women's Epee

3:00pm - Veteran Mixed Sabre, Junior Mixed Sabre, Youth-14 Mixed Sabre

ENTRY PROCEDURE: Entry fees will be $25 for registration/first event and $10 for every additional event. DE, MD, and WV athletes may register in this sport by submitting an additional $10.00 out of state fee. WALK-ONS may be accepted with payment of a $10 late fee, in addition to the appropriate regular entry fees. Send your entry form with the appropriate entry fee to Keystone State Games, Inc., P.O. Box 1166, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18703-1166.

ENTRY DEADLINE: Entries must be postmarked by Friday, July 10, 2009 otherwise athletes will be considered walk-ons.

I spoke to a Keystone game rep today. He told me the games are now open to residents of any state and out of PA fees are being waived. We hope to have the games listed on askFRED in a few days. Stay tuned....

Keystone info is now on askFRED although you do still have to register through the keystone site: http://www.keystonegames.com/summergames.html
Hopefully we can do the whole thing through askFRED next year. Please note at this time the games are not sanctioned but we are working on it.

I'm working on that right now. I cannot put it on askFRED because we didn't do registration through there but I will put it up here in this thread. The big problem I'm having is the Keystone registration system gives me name and event only, no club, division or rating. I can feel the gray hair coming in! I'll post as soon as I get the list for each event on here.

Just a reminder, walk ons will be welcome *but* if you know you are coming, please, please shoot me an email with your name, club, div, event and rating. That way I can have you in the fencing time software and ready to go. I am really trying to minimize the time spent on registration and setting up pools so we can get to the good stuff . . . fencing! If you are already registered for Keystone Games please send me an email with your name, club, division and ratings in any weapons you are fencing at the Keystones. The Keystone registration systems does not take that info and I need it to set up Fencing Time to make registration go quicker. Thanks.

The lists I have posted are by no means an complete list as I continue to receive info from the Keystone people. I am expected a rather large addition of names on Monday or Tuesday. As soon as I get them, I will post them. Due to the limitations of the Keystone registration process, I do not have club/division/ratings

Please do not be discouraged by the low numbers at this point. I believe this happened last year also. So come and bring a friend.

Next year the Keystones will be on askFRED complete with registration, so this whole process will be much easier. Let me know if there are any other questions or concerns about Keystone that I can address for you.

Anyone who is a walk on for Fencing only (no other sports) will have the $10 late fee waived. This will not be advertised on the Keystone site. This is a deal between Keystone and myself to try to improve our numbers for the tournament.
