    Y-12 and Y-14 Foil Developmental Competitions

    The New England Fencing Alliance is pleased to announce a series of Youth 12 & Youth 14 Foil Developmental Competitions. The competitions will be held at the Gibbs Gym, 41 Foster Street, Arlington, MA. The dates for these competitions are:

    Saturday, May 23, 2009
    Saturday, June 13, 2009
    Saturday, July 18, 2009
    Saturday, August 8, 2009
    Saturday, September 15, 2009

    You can pre-register for these events at http://askfred.net. FRED is an acronym for Fencing Results and Events Database.
    These competitions are non-USFA events. USFA membership is not required. However all USFA safety rules will be enforced.

    The first Youth Developmental Competition will be non-electric. All others will be competitions using electric equipment. The entry fee is $10 plus a non-perishable item to donate to the Arlington Food Pantry.

    Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and two 3rd places.

    Registration will take place between 8:45 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

    09:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. We will explain basic rules to competitors and spectators.
    10:00 a.m. - Start of competitions.

    We will combine the Y14 and Y-12 competitions if the entries for one of the competitions have low number of entries.

    We will provide coffee for spectators. A donation of a non-perishable item to for the Arlington Food Pantry would be appreciated.

    Also, for those parents, siblings, friends who would like to enjoy pizza and soft drinks with the competitors after the competition the cost is $5.00 per person. Competitors and volunteers, the pizza and soft drinks are on us.

    In addition to the above we will have bottled water available to the competitors and volunteers at no charge.

    Examples of Donations Sought for Arlington Food Pantry:

    Cereal
    Dried Milk
    Canned Fruits & Vegetables
    Peanut Butter & Jelly
    Tuna Fish & Canned Meats
    Meals in a Can, i.e. Spaghetti-O’s, Stews, Hash, Ravioli, Soups
    Fruit Juices, Coffee, Tea
    Pasta & Sauces
    Canned Tomatoes and Tomato Sauce
    Crackers, Cookies, Mixes
    Jello & Pudding Mixes
    Baby Food
    Toiletries, i.e. Soap, Shampoo, Conditioners,
    Toothpaste, Toothbrushes,
    Toilet Paper, Paper Towels,
    Diapers

    *Please avoid glass containers and perishable foods.

    Monetary Donations: Make checks payable to The Arlington Food Pantry.

    Y12 and Y14 Developmental Foil Competitions

    The first competition held on May 23rd was a huge success. We had 21 fencers representing 3 clubs. This was the first competition experience for the majority of fencers.

    $300 worth of non-perishable items and $50 cash was donated to the Arlington Food Pantry from the competitors and spectators.


    The next competition will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009.
