    Getting back in the game.

To make a long story short, before I graduated high school back in the day, in grade 12 I dabbled about with the local fencing club back home in Jasper, Alberta (which has since disbanded...)

Now, 6 years down the road and with a trade backing me, I'm looking to expand my hobbies once again.

What I'm wondering is, I'm 24. How late is too late to join a fencing club as a hobby? At that, are any of the fencing clubs out there catering to a hobby mindset? I currently reside in Kelowna, BC, Canada.

Personally, for me it would be about having fun, keeping active and learning something new.

It's never too late. I joined my current fencing club at 24 (and unlike you, I had no previous experience with the sport). I'm far from the youngest fencer at my club.

Good luck with finding a club nearby, and have fun!

Too old for Fencing?? NEVER! As you will see fencing will keep you young, active, and more life fufilled. If anything is to be a fountain of youth it will be you and all the sweat that drains from your pours upon the ground. Welcome back to the strip.

I'm 46 and started fencing agin last year after a 6 year hiatus. Prior to that, I fenced in college. I'm teaching beginners and my oldest student is over 60.

It's never too late, especially if it's a hobby (If you're planning on making the Olympic team you might need to start a little earlier)

Never ever too late!! I restarted after a 14 year hiatus last November at the age of 36! I have been competing with the young'ns since January 09 and loving every minute of it (even the crushing defeats!) It has been a wonderful hobby that has me back at college weight (if not yet college stamina or skill). Enjoy!!!
