Anyone have a dead AF ultralight lame?

I will offer a significant discount off a brand new LP lightweight lame in exchange for one of the older (original) Absolute fencing lightweight lames I think these are the ones on sale on their site at the moment...

I want the most knackered one possible preferably with plenty of dead patches.

post pictures here or e mail them to alex(at)leonpaul(dot)com and the person with the deadest lame will win.

The deader the lame the bigger the discount; I will give as much as 50% off retail price maybe more.

i have one with no specific *dead* spots but in no place on the lame does it actually pass conductively. i'm pretty sure its an original lightweight, at least.

Considering I would slay my mother for one of your new lames, I'm now wondering if there is a quick way to totally destroy my current AF ultralight...

Then again, if I were to lose, I'd be screwed.

I hear that you have only to wash it with detergent and Oxyclean...

Ahh, there's the rub. Washing it that way will most certainly kill it, but it will LOOK clean and fresh. If Alex is only going by pictures, I need to make it look convincing. Perhaps roll it around in catnip and allow my vicious cat to wrestle with it awhile?

Or I could try something truly radical and FENCE in it a little more often...

oxyclean will kill anything that isn't stainless even then it may do it damage.

The oxy is for oxidizing and even silver which we use in our LW lames becomes non conductive when heavily oxidized.

If they don't ever look damaged and go dead before they wear then maybe a dead one will do.

I still want a photo though as there has to be a hoop to jump...

It sounds like first posted or e mailed photo wins!

I have one like noodle's. Works completely fine for practice, no actual deadspots, looks brand new. But won't pass an armory check at all.

    Ummm...

Just curious; What's with the burning desire for a destroyed lame?

Done. Mine is totally dead. I bought it at the Tucson NAC which makes it pretty darn original, although memory may not serve...

I still have not recieved any photos so there is still a new LP lame up for grabs.

I am prepared to take just an e mail to me with a description of the lame.

Drop a line to alex (at) leonpaul (dot) com if you can ship me a dead lightweight AF lame in exchange for a discount of a new LP one.

Didn't you get an email from Gary saying he's pretty sure he has a dead lame if you need one?

Just let me fence with it for a couple weeks. Guaranteed dead; I sweat acid apparently.

Infact, it took me less than a year of regular fencing and treating it very gently, always on a hanger, etc, to kill one of LPs supposedly indestructible ultra light lames...

That's 'cause the box will fire with resistance up to (if I remember correctly) 250 ohms....tghe allowable resistance at control is only 5.

Very good, young Skywalker. Good at remembering values of resistances, you are. Spelling not, so good you are. Or fast, fat fingers have you!
