    Uhlmann 350NW material question

Quick question, what is the non-fie 350 Uhlmannn jacket/knicker material??

Is it a cotton/nylon blend, all cotton, all nylon?? If its a blend what, ballpark guess, are the percentages? Thanks

    I must disagree.

I have two pairs of older Uhlmann 350N knickers and they are mostly polyester (75%) and the rest cotton (or baumwool as the Germans call it).

My wife's Uhlmann jacket is the same material. I suspect that the material may have changed slightly (the clothing is over four years old).

I suspect that the newer ones continue with this material or dispense with the cotton completely.

    Paolo,Psi,
thanks for posting. I like Triplette's stretch knickers, but they are just too baggy. Looking for a slimmer cut, but not leotard like.

    My questions are:

Are these, the Uhlmann 350, a good deal?

Can you see through them easily or just slightly?

Are they double layered in the front? Thx again

i have the triplette FIE knickers and i like them alot, they have "some" strech to them but not a ton. its a really strong material witha good thickness to them. i don;t find them baggy at all, maybe u need a smaller size?

Again, with the caveat that mine are older, I don't think that they are too "see through" (not as much as the stretch Santelli stuff in any case). They are definitely looser cut than my Allstar FIE knickers (which are the same numeric size), and they are not double layered in front. Not an issue for épée, but a drawback when fencing foil especially beginners).

I got mine on sale for less than 60 USD apiece, which at the time was pretty good. I have since acquired a couple of pairs of FIE knickers (Allstar and Soudet) but I continue to wear the Uhlmanns 'cause they are roomier. However they are starting to wear out so I'll soon have to drop a few more pounds to be as comfortable in the FIE kit.
