    2009 Playoffs

It's the best time of the year for sports fans, the sun is out and basketball and hockey playoffs have finally started.

The NBA has been a 2 team league for the last half a season... especially now, with KG out and Orlando dropping a game at home to Philly. The only team that could maybe threaten the Lakers in the West is the Blazers but I think Houston will probably take care of them in the first round.

NBA finals are going to be Cavs-Lakers with Kobe winning his first Shaq-less title in 6.

The NHL is a bit more interesting since there are 4 teams that I think have a real shot this year: Detroit, Vancouver, Boston and Pittsburgh. San Jose and Anaheim are going to be a bit too beat up and exhausted after they get through with their series so it should fall to one of my favourites. I think the West has probably got it this year... and while my mind tells me to go with the Wings, my heart says it's Vancouver's time.

    Canucks over Bruins in 7.

Thoughts? Trash talk from some poor St. Louis Blues fans who just felt the business end of a broom?

I can't believe both your mind and heart isn't with the Canucks! You have spent far too much time back east m'boy! I hope the break gives time for Luongo to heal up a bit (although it hasn't affected his playing... he's got to be a hurtin' unit after the game).

At work we started a "when will sharks ef it up this time" pool. So far I'm looking pretty good with my first round against the ducks pick. Stupid Sharks why must you get my hopes up all season and then crush them so mercilessly?

As a Phoenix Suns fan, all I can say is that it's been a rough season.

I think we should start producing "We Believe" tshirts for the sharks. Mitchell is back though; maybe there'll be a miracle.

Luckily they're not at the level of Warriors quite yet. Still though it just hurts to watch them choke so gloriously

Sammy, I love how you're starting to acquire all the sport journalist lingo (i.e. business end of the broom), you're gonna make an awesome journalist some day!
Just never forget the priceless advice occasionally offered by Don Taylor:
    "
..a brew-ha-ha ensues, and for all of you young broadcasters out there, every time you get a chance to use the word brew-ha-ha - use it!"

I'm still intrigued by Pittsburgh out East, although would love to see Tim Thomas and the Bruins make the final. Been too long since this original sixer has done anything worth mentioning.

As much as I am extatic about what the Canucks are doing, the West is tough, regarless of whom we will have to play in the next round. We do, however have a goalie that is ready to steal games every night.
    Go Canucks Go!

    PS
Who cares about the NBA anyway? I'd spend less time on your NBA blog and more time designing training programs for your new students!!!

I'll be happy if the Canes manage to beat the Devils.

La-la-la-la I don't hear you... you displaced Westerners need to stay on the 'Nuck's bandwagon.

    It'll be Canucks Vs. Detroit.

Then... who ever wins Ducks Vs. Sharks, and Blackhawks Vs. Flames. I'm not shy to say that I'm worried about going against the 'hawks or the Flames. Both are quite good.

Not quite true... hockey playoff matchups don't follow the same rules as a fencing DE table. In hockey it's always the highest remaining seed against the lowest remaining seed.

This is why I've become such a big Jonas Hiller fan over the past few days.

    1.) Sharks
    2.) Wings
    3.) Canucks
    4.) 'hawks
    5.)Flames
    ...
    8.) Ducks

Woops.. the ducks slipped my mind. I guess because I'm really hoping the sharks win. (FYI, I wasn't really thinking about DE's).
