Got a link by any chance? Or is it not up on YouTube yet? -

Array I watched it last night and was also surprised that he chose Epee, but he probably chose it because it would be the easiest to quickly teach: "Stick the pointy end in the other person."
Of course I burst out laughing when O'Connel got Jimmy on the foot. Besides it being really clean in action, Jimmy was moderately confused. I've pulled the same stunt before though when giving my demos at places. I'll explain after a few touches that Epee's target area is anywhere, including the foot, then make a toe touch on whoever I'm fencing...kinda just to show off though ;-) - It's not that I chose to fence, it's that I feel I have to fence. -

Array That was pretty entertaining. Jerry seems like a great guy and it was awesome of him to plug the sport a bit. I could have done without the harpsichord soundtrack though.
Plus the quote from Jimmy Fallon: "This is the weirdest sport I've ever heard of." I guess that's what people really think of us. Not elitist in a good way, but elitist as in powdered wig-wearing hanky wielding dandies. Nice.

Nice. well, he did say that after he was told to say "HALT! i've been touched!" that is, admittedly, a weird phrase -

Array I got into fencing because of Jerry O'Connell. After he did an interview taking about it when he was a kid fresh off his series all I wanted to do was learn how to fence. Sure I ended up having to wait until college and by then I got to meet and watch him and his brother fence at some NCAA tournament we were both at. NYU I think I recall. I just remember having the most annoying fan crush to even put to sentences together and then he left to go smoke a cig with our team alternate.
