The tournament commemorates the 146th anniversary of American Civil War Battle of Chancellorsville, fought in Spotsylvania county between April 30-May 6 1863. Though many historians consider it to be Confederate General Robert E. Lee's greatest victory, on May 2, 1863, however, Confederate Lieutenant General Stonewall Jackson was mortally wounded during the battle, and the tide of the war may have irreversibly changed that night.
The champions in the Y-14 events will be awarded a fine replica sword patterned after the U.S. Model 1860 Light Calvary saber issued prior to the Civil War, and which was used during that period. Measuring 40" overall, this saber features a 35" carbon steel blade. The leather wrapped handle fits the hand perfectly and sports decorative brass accents and a shiny brass pommel. The sculpted hand guard is made of brightly polished brass. This saber includes a nickel-plated steel scabbard with lanyard rings. Picture:
