As the 2009-2010 rosters just came up in the last week or two, how could we possibly know who will be in the freshman class entering one year from now?
Those kids are just now applying to college. Are there specific weapons or individuals you have in mind?

The early signing period just ended (Nov. 11-18). There could indeed be news about where some fencers in the class of 2014 are going.

Can you explain what an "early signing period" is?

I think its specific to schools that offer athletic scholarships. Its the period during which students can make a binding agreement to accept the offered scholarship.

Other schools that do not give athletic scholarships also might have sent out "likely letters", but official admission notifications wont be sent until mid December of early applicants and early March for regular applicants.

So there are many kids that already know where they are going next year. But not too many want to talk about it yet.

So are you saying that the "signing period" refers to what is known as a "letter of intent?" This is where the student accepts a scholarship with the agreement to go to that school for at least one year.

Or, does Brad's comment refer to something else?

Yes, that is what I am saying.
