Easier to hit visor than mask wire? Is it easier to hit a visor mask on the visor than a regular mask on the curved mesh where the visor would be? I'm wondering because the visor masks might be better for epee for this reason. -

A full-steel mask is required to have an angle on the fron face of less than 130 degrees to make a blade glance off (reduces risk of penetration). A visor mask is flatter, so a shot ot the face us much more likely to stick.
However....bad form to aim for the face BECAUSE it might stick...Smirnov, y'know.
And why go that deep when the arm's MUCH closer? -

Array Maybe because it's a lot more...ah...off-putting to take a shot to the face. Unlike an arm touch, having your head snapped back can knock you out, or at least rattle your brains. Which, if you're trying to play these famous "mind games" everyone raves about, might be useful.
I know that many years ago, in a moment of boredom occasioned by a paucity of sabre fencers, I did epee with a guy and hit him right about there, mostly by accident. Almost knocked him down, and he got real careful after that. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Array I haven't had any experience with the visor masks. But I would think it would be harder to hit someone who is wearing one. Plastic is more slippery then mesh. Sometimes adrenalin is more instructive than meditation. So, in between screaming, try and pay attention. -
