But then does anyone remember the guy they dumped on the streets of LA after his hospital stay? There's too big a gap in the system; that's why I like an even application - as Americans we are always saying that we live in the greatest nation in the world, why can't we show other nations what we really have? Why can't we create and maintain a system that is genuine and works for everyone without breaking the bank? I always go back to the medical profession, it's as old as ancient Greece - we tend to revere the doctor because he or she is capable of saving lives, preventing illness and making repairs and corrections for us. Because of this reverence we allow them to bill whatever the 'market' [us] will 'bear' even if it breaks us financially. We need to put that profession in perspective. But, it may be an impossibility as it is so ingrained into us to look for health - even Ponce DeLeon searched for the fountain of youth....ergo does humanity stand a chance? It's like a giagantic tug of war between the so-called 'haves' and the so-called 'have-not's' with some people trying to help the have-nots and some people trying to salvage the 'haves'. If we don't want to become a banana republic, we'd better think of something fast, before someone steps in and runs things for us.
